Edmonton Sledge Hockey

Edmonton PSA Blades Junior Sledge Hockey Division: The junior division is where new players can learn the basic rules, skills and strategies of sledge hockey and current players can continue to develop their skills. Players will have the opportunity to play in game situations and learn to work as a team. The junior team has an opportunity to compete against other sledge hockey teams throughout the season

Program Runs:

                Tuesdays from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Donnan Arena (9104-80 Ave, Edmonton)

                October 6 – December 15, 2015

                January 5 – March 8, 2016

Registration Fee: $300 (or 5 Bingos) plus 2 Mandatory Bingos [or add $120]

                                TOTAL of $420.00 

Edmonton PSA Sledge Dogs Intermediate Division: The intermediate division is open to more advanced players, or older players who have just started, who are willing to play a more physical game.

Program Runs:

                Tuesdays from 7:45– 9:15 pm at Donnan Arena (9104-80 Ave, Edmonton)

                October 6 – December 15, 2015

                January 5 – March 8, 2016

Registration Fee: $300 (or 5 Bingos) plus 2 Mandatory Bingos [or add $120]

Edmonton Women’s Sledge Hockey Division:  This new program is specifically designed for women who have never played sledge hockey before! Coaches will go over the basic skills and techniques on a sledge as well as the rules and strategy of game play. Everyone will be at the same level-Beginner-so come out and give it a try!

                Thursdays from 7:45-9:00 pm at Donnan Arena (9104-80 Ave, Edmonton)

                October 8 – December 17, 2015

                January 7 – March 10, 2015

Registration Fee: $280 (or 4 Bingos + $40) plus 2 Mandatory Bingos [or add $120]

Teen & Adult Group

This is the newly designed Teen & Adult Group is specifically designed for teens and young adults aged 13—29 years. The group meets at various locations throughout Edmonton, on Saturday evenings to participate in fun social events. This program is a great opportunity for participants to get out into the community and keep active while having fun.

Wheelchair Floor Hockey

This is an instructional floor hockey program that enables participants to build skills in stick handling, passing and shooting as well as game skills and strategies. Athletes who use an electric or manual wheelchair are welcome to participate. Athletes who have ambulatory disabilities can use a manual wheelchair available through the ACT Centre. The PSA Blue and Black Thunder welcome new members to come out and join the team. If you would like to play a game against the PSA teams contact PSA at 780-439-8687.

                Mondays from 6:00 — 7:00 pm at the ACT Centre Gym (2909–113 Ave, Edmonton)          

September 14 – December 14, 2015 (excluding Oct. 12)

Registration Fee:                 $50 or 1 Bingo

 

Wheelchair Floor Hockey Tournaments in Edmonton 2015 and 2016

PSA will be hosting two floor hockey tournaments this season! Our 17th and 18th Floor Hockey Tournaments will be held at the ACT gymnasium. The tournaments are always filled with some great competition for both experienced and new players to the sport!  The PSA tournament welcomes any new teams interested in coming out for the tournament! Teams must have a minimum of six (6) players and a maximum of ten (10) to compete; the players can either use a manual or electric wheelchair.

*The tournament fee for teams outside of PSA is $50/team.

  • The first tournament will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
  • The second tournament will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Deadline for registration for the first tournament is November 10, 2015 and the second tournament is May 25, 2016. For more additional information regarding the PSA Wheelchair Floor Hockey League and how to participate please contact the PSA office at 780-439-8687.

  

Tae Kwon Do

Learn the skills and discipline of Taekwondo. Regardless of physical ability, any individual can gain something from Taekwondo. The Paralympic Sports Association in partnership with Tiger Taekwondo is excited to offer this great program.  Tiger Taekwondo provides skilled instructors that use traditional training techniques, regardless of physical limitations, to help students achieve balance between body, mind, and spirit. The instructors adapt each lesson to meet the goals and abilities of each participant. Children, teens, and adults of all levels and abilities will see the benefits of Taekwondo. All participants will have the opportunity to be tested and move on to the next belt level.

Junior Division (ages 5-13 years old): 

Saturdays from 10:00-11:00 am at Tiger Taekwondo (7619 – 104 St)

September 19-November 28, excluding October 10

January 9-April 30, excluding February 13 and March 26

Registration Fee:   $240 (or 4 Bingos) PLUS 1 Mandatory Bingo or add 60$

 

Intermediate Division (ages 14 years old – adult):

Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:15 pm at Tiger Taekwondo (7619 – 104 St)

Swimming

PSA’s Swimming Program is specially designed to meet the varying needs of our members while providing small working groups and one-on-one assistance.

Learn to improve your skills with Certified Swimming Instructors working with the group to provide individualized instruction. Swimmers are further paired up with trained volunteers to offer one-on-one assistance (when possible) in addition to the instruction.

Each swimmer will be graded in the Fall term and again in the Winter term.

FALL/WINTER PROGRAM RUNS:

                Novice:  2:00-3:00 PM                       Intermediate:    3:00-4:00 PM

PSA Winter Party

Multicultural Party! Pick a country (a few examples would be Ireland, Germany, Russia, Australia, Columbia, or South Africa!) and bring a dish or drink from that country!

Games, and activities will be available for all ages.
