PSA UPDATE
It is the time of year in which the seasons change, and the same seems to be true for PSA. Kim Webster, the Special Events/Fundraising Coordinator is no longer with the Paralympic Sports Association. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Kim for all of her hard work and on behalf of the Paralympic Sports Association we wish her the best in all future endeavors.
FIRST ANNUAL WESTERN CANADIAN SLEDGE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
APRIL 1 – 3, 2005
This past weekend, the Paralympic helped host the First Annual Western Canadian Sledge Hockey Tournament at the Trileisure Centre in Spruce Grove. The weekend was an historical event for Sledge Hockey. 12 teams participated, including your very own PSA Sledge Puppies and Dogs. I would like to thank all the participants, parents and volunteers that helped make this tournament a success, in particular to Kim McDonald and Joe Arsenault who put in countless hours.
Here is a quick write up that was in today’s Edmonton Journal to give a quick highlight of the weekend.
Local Sledge Hockey Hero
You have to wonder if the First Annual Western Canadian Sledge Hockey Tournament has a union.
Because overtime was certainly an issue at the TransAlta Trileisure Centre in Spruce Grove.
Hometown boy Stephen Arsenault shone in the sun. The 17 year old scored in a shootout – after two OT sessions – to give the Impact Red a 1 – 0 win over Impact Black. Both are Edmonton teams.
In the Junior final, the local PSA Puppies beat the Kindersley Klippers 2 – 1 in the second overtime period from Ben Biermann’s goal.
Alaska and Bruno, a Saskatchewan squad, met in the Intemediate final. Bruno won in the second overtime.
