FLOOR HOCKEY
PSA's Adapted Floor
Hockey program attracts participants who use a manual or electric wheelchair.
The PSA Knights meet weekly to play games and practice their skills. This
past year's tournament was on May 11th and was a huge success, with 5
teams competing in the tournament and a skills competition as well. Next
year's tournament will be held on May 10th at the ACT Centre.

THE
PROGRAM
The Adapted Floor Hockey program runs September 23 to December 16 and
January 6 to May 5, every Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the
ACT Centre gymnasium.
Instruction is available
every week and sticks and pucks are supplied for those that do not have
their own.
RULES
OF ADAPTED FLOOR HOCKEY
- All players must
play from a wheelchair.
- Pushers are allowed
for manual chair users.
- Pushers may only
go as fast as the fastest electric wheelchair and may not interfere
with the play.
- Sticks may be tied
to the chairs if need be.
- Feet must remain
on foot rest at all times.
- No offside or icing
calls.
- Checking from within
two chair lengths and high sticking are not permitted.
- Tampering with
opponent's brakes or controls is not tolerated.
- Goaltenders cannot
score from their own net.
- Minor penalties
are for 3 minutes running time; majors for 6 minutes running time.
- Periods are 15
minutes running time; 3 periods.
- Last 5 minutes
of the 3rd period is played in stop time.
PROGRAM
FEES
A $10 registration fee plus club volunteer services includes 30 weeks
of instruction plus games and demos. The season normally runs from September
to May.
