THE GREAT HUMAN RACE
This year the GREAT HUMAN RACE will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005. GRAB YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBOURS--- let’s all get involved!!! Prizes for top three pledges collected.

OLDTIMERS HOCKEY CHALLENGE
Oldtimers Hockey Challenge is a family event that has been helping out Edmonton Charities for 16 years. NHL Legends will be coming to Edmonton to play a hockey benefit game against the Edmonton Police Faded Blues hockey team. The game will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 7 pm at REXALL Place.
PSA has been offered some COMPLIMENTARY tickets for this event.
If you are interested in attending please contact Fiona in the PSA office at 439- 8687 by Wednesday, March 9th, 2005.

MOTHER’S RETREAT WEEKEND
YIPPEEE FOR MOMS!!!! From May 13 – 15 Mother’s have the opportunity to GET AWAY and do… well… whatever THEY want to do. They can relax, chat, read a book, do crafts, get spoiled with a foot rub or try some Yoga. The Mother’s Retreat will take place at the Black Cat Ranch near Hinton. DISABLED CANOEING PROGRAM
The Paralympic Sports Association and Edmonton Community Services are partnering to offer this exciting opportunity for people with disabilities and friends and family members to learn canoeing skills. A certified canoe instructor and volunteers will be on hand to work closely with the participants and provide instruction. Skill development, safety and FUN will be emphasized. All equipment including safety and adapted equipment will be provided. The program will run for 4 weeks starting May 27 – June 30th. More information will be in the Spring/Summer Program Guide, or you can contact Fiona in the PSA office at 439-8687.

VAN WHEELCHAIR LIFT FOR SALE
Braun, wheelchair lift, Model #L100U44, for any minivan, was $4300 new, used for 6 months, and will sell for $1199. Contact Fiona in the PSA office for more details. 439-8687.

GLOBAL NEWS STARS

As a part of the Brier being held in Edmonton next month, Global news has been visiting various Curling Clubs in the City, including the Shamrock Curling Club, where our PSA Wheelchair Curlers throw some rocks. The segment will be airing on Global News at 6:00 pm tonight Tuesday February 1st. Thank you to our members who were able to attend.

SILVER SKATE FESTIVAL

Children's Ability Fund SILVER SKATE FESTIVAL--- HAWRELAK PARK--- Saturday February 19, 2005

This year marks the 15th anniversary for the Edmonton Winter Triathlon and Silver Skate Festival, which take place the third Saturday in February.

Come out and enjoy an exciting day of outdoor activities from Dutch style skating "Kortebaan", children's Polar Bear Party, snow sculpting, free ice skate rentals, free sleigh rides, face painting, performances by the National Ice Theatre of Canada... and of course, your favorite Dutch treat.

The Festival begins with the Edmonton Winter Triathlon. This event encompasses a 5km run, 5km skate & 5km ski around Hawrelak Park and is fun for individuals and teams.

The PSA Sledge Puppies will providing a SLEDGE HOCKEY Demo at 1:30 pm for all to see, in addition PSA will bring out sledges from the SLEDGES IN SCHOOL Program (Sledges sponsored by Children's Ability Fund) for ANYONE to try!

ATTENTION ALL TEENS

The Teen Group Motivational Speakers Night has been rescheduled for February 19th, 2005 from 7:00- 9:00 pm at the Central Lions Senior Recreation Centre (11113- 113 Street) for an evening of Motivational Speakers.

Information regarding the Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability YOUTH EXCHANGE in Ottawa for TEENS will be provided. This is a wonderful experience for TEENS and I hope many of you apply!

You do not have to be registered in the Teen Group to attend this session. We invite and encourage ALL teens to attend this evening!

BOWLING AND GAMES – REGISTER NOW

Come out and join us for a fun day of Bowling and Games. This event was great fun last year and we expect another fantastic turn out. For this event we will require payment prior to February 6th. If you register you must send a cheque for the appropriate amount.
