It is hard to believe that the PSA has now been around for an amazing 40 years. Saturday, June 11th was a night of reminiscing at the Annual Awards Banquet and Family Dance. Not only was the evening a celebration of the last 40 year but also to honour this year’s award winners as well as life time members and all who have contributed to the success of the PSA. This year over 170 members, supporters and their families attended the event. Life time members in attendance included Doris Staheli, Gerry Way, Leonard Dinning, Kathleen Scott, Dorothy McPherson, Gary McPherson, Diane Earl, Helen Paisley, Raylene Monolescu, Norm Usiskin, and Judy Cook.

The PSA was also proud to presents three new life time members; Ann Charchuk, Celina Pietrusik, & Ken Thomas. This is the highest award presented by the PSA and has only been awarded 25 times since our inception in 1965.

As PSA embarks on its 40th anniversary, the Board of Directors felt it fitting to introduce a new level of recognition, the Patron Award. The first ever recipient of this award was Gary McPherson. Gary has been an advocate and role model for people with disabilities for many years and an inspiration to everyone at the PSA. It is because of his involvement in PSA and in the disabled community that Gary was chosen for this award. Congratulations Gary!
